Estate Planning Seminar hi-lights

March 6, 2012

Nearly 170 attendees gathered to hear timely information at an Estate Planning Seminar, Tuesday, February 21, in Conference Room One at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare (MLMH). The 55PLUS organization at MLMH and the Mary Lanning HealthCare Foundation (MLHF) co-hosted the event.

A panel of speakers presented a variety of topics, based on their work with clients and the latest legal and financial information.

David H. Fisher, an attorney with Dunmire, Fisher and Hastings and a member of the MLHF Board of Directors, opened with a discussion of "Wills and Trusts."

"We didn't know how many to expect at the seminar," said Fisher. "Thanks to some excellent marketing, we received so many reservations that we added a second session and filled both of them."

Andrew S. Janzen, CPA and CVA at McDermott & Miller, PC, spoke about "Federal Estate and Gift Tax."

Adam D. Pavelka, an attorney at the offices of Sullivan, Shoemaker PC, LLO and a member of the MLHF Board of Directors, discussed "Power of Attorney and Healthcare Directives."

Brian Stock, AAMS, Vice President and Senior Financial Advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC, presented "Investment Planning for the Retirement Years."

"The response was overwhelming," said Bud Synhorst, executive director of MLHF. "Comments from attendees let us know the speakers and topics met and exceeded the expectations of our audience. We appreciate the presenters for their time and for delivering so much information."

Deb Bonham, coordinator of 55PLUS activities at MLMH, was pleased with the great response from 55PLUS members.

"The seminar was the first in a series of 12 events we have scheduled for our members throughout 2012," said Bonham. "We encourage people to call our office (402 461-5131) for a complete list of activities as well as how they can become a member of 55PLUS."
